Household Furniture

We are experiencing a very high need for household furniture such as beds, dressers, tables & chairs, couches. Your donations will help us provide our guests with furniture when they find housing. Please contact our Distribution Center at 785.357.4285 for more information.

The primary drop off location is at our Distribution Center located at 401 NW Norris. It is open from 8 AM to 3 PM Monday – Friday.

The alternate donation drop off, staffed 24/7, is at the main shelter located at 600 N. Kansas Ave. This alternate location is available for small non-perishable items only. All large items (i.e. furniture, mattresses, etc.) must be dropped off at the Distribution Center.

We live at Burlingame. If we have a lot of things to give to the mission, do you have a truck that can pick it up. We can pay the expense of the gas.

There are some situations where we do provide pickup. The Distribution Center (where food and material donations are received) would be able to answer your question. Please call 785-357-4285 or visit the Contact Page and complete the contact form with the food and material donations department selected. Thank you so much for supporting Topeka Rescue Mission!

I had a quick question. I have a couch and a recliner that I was considering donating. A few years ago while pet sitting one end of the couch was a little scratched up. I’ve continued to use it but just moved into a new house and don’t have room for it. Is this still an item you would be interested in?

    Sean,

Typically, we tell people if it is a couch you would use or would feel good about giving to somebody who is in need, than we accept the couch. However, not all couches are able to be received. I would advise you to call our Distribution Center at 785-357-4285. They will ask you more specific questions and be able to give you a solid answer.

I have a queen size bed I’m wanting to donate in great condition. Do you have a truck that would pick this up?

Do you take used books? I have several boxes I would donate. Some are young adult books, some are mysteries, and some are books about the second world war. How many boxes could I bring at a time?

Yes, the Mission accepts donations of books. Feel free to donate as many as is convenient for you. Donations can be brought to our Distribution Center located at 401 NW Norris, Monday-Friday (8am-3pm) or Saturday (8am-noon). After hours, donations can be taken to our Main Mission Building at 600 N Kansas Avenue. However, because items dropped off at the Main Mission Building will need to be transferred to the Distribution Center (DC) during working hours, it would be more helpful to have them donated directly to the DC. Thank you for your support!

I have some knick-knacks, whatnots, dust catchers …what ever you want to call them. Is that something you can use or sell to make money for the shelter?
